Frequently asked questions

What is the cost of sessions?

My rate is $145 for 50-minute session. I do not accept insurance. However, I never want finances to be a barrier for you to ask for help and will offer a sliding scale rate if I have these spots available.

How often do I come to counseling?

I work with most clients on a weekly or biweekly basis. Frequency is completely up to you but I will also provide you with recommendations based on your needs and goals.

What is your availability?

Sunday-Thursday, with some evening slots available

What is a phone consultation?

A phone consultation is to make sure we are a good fit for one another. During this time, I will ask you reasons for seeking therapy and initial goals. You are able to ask me any questions to help ease the process. If we are a match, we will schedule our first session. If we are not a match, I will provide you with additional referrals. This is a free service and typically is 10-15 minutes.

What does the counseling process look like?

During our first session, we will begin to develop goals, identify struggles and review paperwork. For the remainder of sessions, we will actively work toward your goals using evidence-based therapeutic interventions.

What does the therapeutic relationship look like between client and counselor?

My role as your counselor is to sit with you during this process. I do not pretend to know more about you than you do. I will offer you skills and open and honest feedback around things you may not see clearly from an outside and professional perspective. Our relationship is professional and confidential (there are limits to confidentiality- we will review prior to beginning sessions).

What is EMDR?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing and is an evidence-based therapeutic approach for trauma, anxiety and depressive symptoms. It is an 8-part process and allows people to heal from distressing emotions and past events.
